Surfer, Garrett McNamara, breaks the world record for the largest wave ever surfed (90 Feet to be exact). Garret McNamara was off the coastline in the Atlantic Ocean. He caught the incredible wave during the ZON North Canyon Project in Praia de Norte, Nazaré, Portugal. Prior to completing the monster 90 foot wave, McNamara surfed two big waves of about 60 feet. He was ready when he saw the canyon wave of over 90 feet.
The previous world record was registered by Mike Parsons, who had surfed a 77 foot wave in the Cortez Bank in 2001. Ken Bradshaw rode an 85-food wave in Hawaii’s Waimea Bay in 1998, but was never recorded for the Guinness World Book of Records.
